Summary of Position
We are searching for a committed, proactive Assistant Bar Manager who is knowledgeable about local / craft beer, wine and liquor. The Assistant Bar Manager will assist with the development of the craft cocktail menu, ensure that patrons are receiving excellent drinks and customer service, manage inventory and resources, ensure that quality and safety controls are followed, and create schedules. The Assistant Bar Manager should be a skilled communicator with excellent problem solving, critical thinking, observation, and interpersonal skills.
Assist management with the development of a local, craft-cocktail menu.
Training staff to adhere to recipes, provide excellent customer service and explain flavor profiles of menu.
Collaborate with executive chef and management to pair food and drinks effectively.
Creating effective schedules and quickly resolving conflicts to ensure that bar is well staffed during peak hours.
Setting and enforcing quality and safety controls.
Ensuring licenses are updated and in line with current legislation.
Working with diverse personalities both on the staff and patrons.
Diffusing tense situations between patrons or staff members to prevent possible safety or legal issues, ejecting unruly persons, if needed.
Maintaining a fun, safe atmosphere for patrons.
2+ years of bartending experience
Restaurant or bar management experience preferred
Extensive knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor required
Knowledge of local / craft distributers a plus.
TABC and food safety certified
Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to diffuse tense situations and resolve conflicts.
Willingness/ability to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Effectively delegate responsibilities and maximize resources.
Ability to walk, stand, and occasionally carry heavy items in a fast-paced, stressful environment.
